Okanogan County Search and Rescue (OCSAR) is a dedicated volunteer organization committed to safety, perpetual training, and inter-agency cooperation. Our primary goal is to maintain a constant state of readiness to assist the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office in search, rescue, and incident response. We are a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization.
Established in 1998, our team consists of approximately 50 volunteers who provide specialized technical skills to the Sheriff’s Office. Because search and rescue responsibilities in Washington fall under the jurisdiction of the County Sheriff, we operate strictly as a resource they can call upon.
We maintain several specialized units to handle the diverse and rugged terrain of the largest county in Washington:
Technical Rope Rescue: For high-angle and cliff environments.
Specialized Teams: Including Search Dog units, Drone Team, Swift Water Rescue, and Ground Search groups.
Mobile Support: Utilizing ORVs and watercraft to reach remote areas.
